Job Title:
Application Engineer Job Description The Applications Engineer is responsible for supporting the completion of proposals and assisting with the engineering and design on projects for oil & gas related processing equipment. Responsibilities + Support the completion of proposals for oil & gas processing equipment. + Assist with engineering and design tasks related to oil & gas processing projects. + Begin development of industry skills while working with an Experienced Process Engineer in a mentoring environment. + Conduct process design of units including simulation and equipment sizing for oil & gas processing. + Assist and advise other engineers and technologists. + Attend client communications and meetings as required. + Generate and maintain PFDs, Heat & Material Balances, and P&IDs. + Prepare process-related documents such as equipment and instrumentation datasheets, line sizing calculations, and line lists. + Design selected equipment to be manufactured in-house. + Specify and/or purchase selected buyout equipment, including issuing Request for Quotations, vendor comparison, and final vendor selection. + Select control valves and pressure safety valves. + Review and implement client specifications. + Collaborate with instrumentation, piping, and vessel design groups to ensure proper process design. + Review fabrication drawings and participate in 3-D model reviews. + Work with shop staff to discuss fabrication issues and resolve design problems. + Provide technical support and guidance to help clients select appropriate technology. + Complete bid pre-qualifications as assigned. + Prepare cost estimates for pressure vessels, piping, structural elements, and assemblies on assigned proposals under the guidance of sales and project departments. + Review customer specifications and applicable codes. + Determine material types needed and any special requirements. + Liaise and obtain quotes for material and sub-vendor requirements regarding pricing and delivery. + Provide final estimate figures and information for bid preparation. Essential Skills + Proficiency in Promax and FRQ. + Knowledge of ISO 9001 and other ISO standards. + 5 years of experience in an Applications Engineer role with an EPCM company (Oil & Gas Engineering & Fabrication). + B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent. + Understanding of Process Design of units including simulations and equipment sizing. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Capability to begin development of required industry skills while working with a Senior Process Engineer. + Experience in process design of units (simulation, equipment sizing, etc.) for oil & gas processing. + Ability to assist and advise other engineers and technologists. + Competency in preparing process-related documents such as equipment & instrumentation datasheets, line sizing calculations, line lists, etc. + Skill in designing selected equipment to be manufactured in-house. + Proficiency in specification and/or purchasing of selected buyout equipment including issuing of Request for Quotations, vendor comparison, and final vendor selection. + Experience in selecting control valves and pressure safety valves. Work Environment This position will be remote in the Houston, Texas area until the end of January. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $62.00 - $62.00/hr.
