Job Summary:
The Veteran Claims Billing & Recovery Specialist is responsible for the facilitation of accurate and timely claims processing in accordance with laws, regulations, and administrative rulings of governmental organizations, other regulatory agencies, and contractual obligations. Job functions include, but are not limited to, medical billing, re-billing, corrected claims, follow-up and appeals.
Education and Work Experience:
High School Diploma (Medical Billing and/or Coding certificate preferred) Minimum of two (2) years' experience in medical billing and/or insurance collections Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (Advanced Excel knowledge) Hospital Information Systems (i.e. Meditech, EPIC, Cerner) Electronic Claims Management Systems (i.e. SSI; Quadax) Primary Job responsibilities: Accurately bill and follow-up on medical claims Average of 60 claims processed per day Act as a liaison between VCP clients and the Veterans Administration, facilitating the collections of claim charges Participate in staff meetings Daily reports to Supervisor (written and oral) Identifies areas for improvement and suggest options for problem resolution Demonstrate account review techniques that support and validate claim action(s) taken Distinguish UB and 1500 validation issues that should be reported to management Contact third party payers to facilitate timely account resolution Document all contacts and information obtained Ensure compliance with Client and Veteran Claims Paid, LLC policies and procedures regarding
PHI, HIPPA
Maintain consistent audit trail including notating patient accounts accurately, timely, and professionally
