Operator III Smith County - 3.7 Tyler, TX Job Details Full-time $55,965 - $59,373 a year 2 hours ago Qualifications Tanker CDL A Mid-level High school diploma or GED Tanker Endorsement Full Job Description Summary/Objective Operator III operates light and/or heavy equipment for the Road and Bridge department. Ensures quality control is in place and work is of the highest standard Duties and Responsibilities Directly answers to the Crew leader, Foreman and Superintendent for the execution of work. May lead worker in absence of crew chief. Collects and posts completed job data including, but not limited to, labor and equipment time, and materials ordered, used, stockpiled or returned. Knowing roadway operations procedures and processing of roadway materials. Responsible for the proper upkeep, care and storage of all crew-assigned equipment. Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as deemed necessary for certain locations. May be required to work outside of normal business hours. Assists in other areas as needed. Required Skills and Abilities Lead by example Communicate effectively Self-motivated Ensure operations at peak performance Minimize down time / Maximize operations by good time management Follows safety guidelines and policy Reports on safety issues to supervisors Must be able to give and follow written and oral instructions. Works safely in a team environment Safety minded in operational procedures Operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment in a safe efficient manner Promote a positive harmonious environment in all operations Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Specialized and proficient in the operation of all light and at least three (3) heavy equipment. Examples Gradall, Excavator, Paver, Backhoe, Motor-grader Field testing of heavy equipment may be a requirement prior to final hiring Education and Experience High School diploma or G.E.D. Licenses and Certifications Must have a Commercial Driver License, Class A CDL to include a with tanker endorsement. If an applicant has a CDL Class A and not the tanker endorsement, if hired it must be obtained within 60 days of hire date to continue employment. Physical Demands and Work Environment Standing-prolonged periods of time, walking, stooping, bending, pulling, reaching. Subject to outside environmental conditions. Rain Snow, Extreme cold and heat; below 32 and/or above 100 degrees for more than one hour Subject to noise, ensure that employees are wearing appropriate PPE Work in cramped spaces (bend, stoop, crawl) and at varied heights Subject to hazards-moving mechanical parts, traffic, elevated heights are some but not limited to all exposers working in roadway maintenance and construction. May be required to work outside of normal business hours and in adverse weather conditions with extended hours. Lift up to 50 lbs. at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs Walking-moving on foot to accomplish tasks: long distance/from one work site to another
