Job Description
Carlile Transportation Heavy Haul Line Driver ($34.50 - $46.25 DOE) in Anchorage
, Alaska Description Essential Duties
- Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
- Inspect truck and trailer(s) for defects through pre-trip and post-trip inspections and submit reports indicating their condition
- Operate a variety of trucks and equipment, including specialized Heavy Haul equipment, under a variety of conditions, adhering to posted speed limits and all other local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Maintain driver and maintenance logs (electronic and manual) according to State and Federal regulations as well as Carlile policies and procedures.
- Make customer pick-ups and deliveries in a manner that reflects superior customer service
- Prepares bills of lading
- Maintain hands-free telephone contact with terminal to receive accurate dispatch instructions
- Ensure cargo is secured for transport according to FMCSRs and Carlile requirements
- Maintain a clean work environment including swept trailer, clean cab, windows, and mirrors
- Determine discrepancies in paperwork
- May be required to perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Class A CDL with doubles and triples endorsements
- Two years of verifiable, safe, over-the-road (OTR), Line driving, or Local driving experience preferred (may differ upon location).
- Must be able to enter military installations
- TWIC Card Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Position requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and meet regulatory deadlines.
- Impeccable character, integrity, and unfailing initiative in a team environment
- Must be experienced to operate in snow and ice road conditions and be able to chain-up.
- Ability to work various shifts and days of the week
- Record of safe and competent driving as demonstrated on driver's abstract and driving files.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have a basic mechanical background and aptitude coupled with the knowledge of how a diesel truck operates.
- Ability to supervise pilot car drivers and direct pilot car activity
- Position may require one to be out on the road 60%-80% of the time
- Must be able to prioritize daily task and assignments
- Must be customer focused.
