POSITION SUMMARY

SCHEDULE
M-Th 6:00am-4:00 pm Summer, M-F 7:00am-3:00pm Winter, Schedule may vary based on departmental need.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates wheel excavator, track excavator, backhoe, front end loader, and skid loader. Operates all department vehicles. Perform manual labor as necessary. Operates an air jack hammer and a wide variety of hand tools. Performs routine preventative maintenance on departmental equipment.
NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Assume additional responsibilities as assigned including coverage for other Utility Managers.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent education. Six months experience operating heavy equipment machinery
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be capable of performing strenuous physical labor. Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely. Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions. Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public. Ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION
Valid Commercial Driver's License required. Tanker endorsement preferred.
EQUIPMENT
Saws, tampers, pumps, compressors, and other gas and hydraulic powered equipment and heavy equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed outdoors in adverse weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in wet and/or humid conditions and is exposed to airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to loud.
