Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(35%) Staff Supervision and Training Oversees personal management of the supervisor's direct reports including employment decisions, counseling, personnel actions, workflow distribution and productivity, career development and performance appraisals Advises coding team members on best practices, methodology and tools for accurate coding Participates in a minimum of monthly 1:1 meeting with direct report coding team members; weekly as indicated by performance or as indicated/needed Assists with preparation of weekly coding departmental meetings, agenda and meeting minutes Assists with job responsibilities and sets priorities for coding team members Oversees and ensures outstanding provider/market inquiries through interaction with coders and operational market leaders are addressed (30%) Charge & Coding and RCM Operations Support Enforces department policies, practices, procedures and work rules in accordance with approved departmental policies and assists in the development and implementation of new policies Participates routinely in performance meetings with the computerized-assisted coding (CAC) vendor and places support tickets, as needed Assists team withCPT/HCPCS
for price estimation for services being provided to patients when requested Responsible for the monitoring of monthly and completion of performance metric reports which would include charge accrual reports and monthly health reports from the CAC vendor Ensures that charges are accurately posted to patient accounts in a timely manner Assists with internal & external questions regarding billing and/or coding practices and collaborates with other RCM leadership on best practices Reviews and verifies that all billing system processes and tasks are completed timely and clean for end of month reporting Keeps abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements by monitoring industry publications and implements changes as necessary. Provides assistance with research and coordination with coding consultants, as needed Monitors and controls departmental expenditures (30%) Coding Compliance Quality Assurance Works directly with the Coding Specialist III assigned to ensure that monthly QA is performed, results are compiled and any residual account corrections and education is completed and documented Reviews coder productivity scorecards and produces PIP/action plans for under-performing coders on at least a monthly basis Involved in the process for any government or other payer audits (5%) Completes other tasks and projects as assignedRequirements:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent Bachelor's degree in health information or other related field or equivalent experience Successful completion of a coding certificate program such as CCS, CCS-P, CPC or RCC Minimum 3-5 years' experience coding and/or auditing 3+ years coding leadership experience in health care setting; radiology preferred Thorough/detailed knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines Skilled in performing quality assessment/analysis Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite and medical billing systems Be at work on time and as scheduled Knowledge of and adherence to company policies and protocols Knowledge of basic level computer skills RAYUS is committed to delivering clinical excellence in communities across the U.S., driven by our passion for and superior service to referring providers and patients.
