Line Technician 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars 1265 S Coastal Hwy, Midway, GA 31320
Job Purpose:
Perform line construction and maintenance under the direction of a Journeyman rated
Line Technician Duties:
  • Perform line construction, maintenance and restoration of energized and de-energized overhead and URD distribution lines and inspect completed work to ensure it is in accordance with applicable specifications and codes.
  • Patrol the line and check for defective materials, equipment or unsafe conditions; notify foreman or supervisor of problems found.
  • Perform the duties of ground man, equipment operator and lineman. See that trucks, tools, and assigned equipment are properly used and kept in good working order.
  • Respond to after-hours trouble on a rotating basis and is dependably available for duty during inclement weather adversely affecting the Cooperative's electrical system.
  • Understand considerable hazards that exist, including falls, electric shock, electric flash, automobile traffic, and falling objects. Understand and utilize safety equipment.
  • Learn and comply with all safety policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform all other job-related duties assigned by management.
Skills/Qualifications:
High school diploma or state equivalency certificate is required. Five (5) years prior experience in overhead and underground construction and maintenance is desired. Must have successfully completed the apprenticeship program required for Apprentice Line Technician III and II (or equivalent experience/training). Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, safety material, and other work-related documents. Ability to use standard office equipment and laptops. Ability to work nonstandard work hours or work week, possible overtime work, and to be "on-call" on a rotating basis. Must have a CDL (commercial driver's license) as well as forklift certification. Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license. Must be able to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
