Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Billing and Coding:
Accurately enter and code mental health services using appropriate billing codes (e.g., CPT, ICD-10) for submission to insurance companies.Claims Management:
Prepare, review, and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies, ensuring all claims are submitted in a timely manner.Accounts Receivable:
Monitor and follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and take necessary actions to ensure payment, including resubmissions and appeals.Patient Billing:
Generate and send patient statements for outstanding balances, and assist patients with billing inquiries and payment plans.Insurance Verification:
Verify insurance coverage and benefits for new and existing patients, and update patient records accordingly.Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA, and maintain confidentiality of patient information.Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and organized records of all billing activities, payments received, and communications with insurance companies and patients.Collaboration:
Work closely with mental health providers, administrative staff, and insurance companies to resolve billing issues and improve billing processes.Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certification in medical billing and coding preferred.Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, with a focus on mental health services preferred.Knowledge:
Strong understanding of medical billing and coding procedures, insurance claim processes, and relevant billing software.Skills:
Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills, and effective communication skills.Technology:
Proficiency in medical billing software, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.Certifications:
Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) preferred.Location:
Hybrid- Training will be fully in office & position will transition to hybrid after successful trainingJob Type:
