To learn more about Team OC please visit https://www.orthocarolina.com/about-us We are searching for Test and Surgery Scheduler for our OrthoCarolina office location in Winston Salem. This position has the ability for possible remote work but must be able to travel onsite as needed or requested. The Test and Surgery Scheduler arranges surgeries and diagnostic tests with area hospitals and diagnostic facilities based on physician/patient preferences and insurance plan requirements.
Essential Functions:
Gives general instructions and explains procedures that are scheduled with the patients and provides the patient with written instructions including date, time and facility directions for the procedure that is scheduled. Coordinates patient care with hospitals, blood donations, radiology, anesthesia and the patient's primary care physician. Provides patient teaching on surgical procedures; pre and postoperative care via verbal, written and videotaped communication. Loads all surgeries into centricity filling in appropriate fields in data set and enters surgery in physician outlook calendar Schedules patient education and medical clearance appointments as needed. This position obtains second opinions and medical clearance as needed and arranges patient education and medical clearance appointments as needed. Creates referral, tasks, post op appointments and obtains pre-certification as required.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical terminology/CPT and ICD9. Knowledge of interrelationship of clinical services department. Ability to communicate with patients, medical facilities' personnel and testing centers' personnel.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. A minimum of one year medical office experience. Previous high volume surgery scheduling experience preferred but not required. Familiar with insurance companies, CPT and ICD9 codes.
