Job Description

JOB REQUIREMENTS
The City of De Pere has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanic to join our Public Works team! This position will maintain, diagnose, repair, and overhaul City owned vehicles, trucks, and heavy and light duty mechanical equipment, including diesel and gas engines. The City of De Pere may hire at either the Mechanic or Senior Mechanic level, depending on experience and qualifications. Full position details are available on the website at www.deperewi.gov/Jobs.
Salary:
Depending on qualifications, plus an excellent benefits package. Mechanic \$29.19 - \$35.03 per hour Senior Mechanic \$31.61 - \$37.94 per hour
Qualifications:
Mechanic 1. High School diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of post-high school coursework in automotive mechanics or mechanical trades. 2. Two years of experience with automotive equipment, light to heavy truck and/or off-road equipment. Welding experience preferred. 3. Valid unencumbered Wisconsin Class \"B\" Commercial Driver\'s License, with air brake restriction lifted, and safe driving record preferred. Must obtain within 24 months of hire. Senior Mechanic 1. High School diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of post-high school coursework in automotive mechanics or mechanical trades. 2. Ten years of experience in heavy truck and/or off-road equipment. Welding experience required. 3. Valid unencumbered Wisconsin Class \"B\" Commercial Driver\'s License, with air brake restriction lifted, and safe driving record. Ability to obtain \"N\" (tank vehicle) endorsement within six months of hire. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Typical Work Schedule:
The normal work schedule is Monday - Thursday, 6:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Friday, 6:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m. plus additional hours as needed for emergencies and snow plow operations. The City of De Pere recognizes the importance of its employees having a proper work-life balance and supports alternative work schedules. In addition, new employees receive three weeks of vacation time and four floating holidays per year beginning on the first day of work (prorated the first year). How to
