Job Summary Paving Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy machinery like asphalt pavers, concrete spreaders, and compactors to lay down smooth paving materials like asphalt or concrete on roads, parking lots, and other surfaces, ensuring proper leveling and consistency while adhering to safety protocols and project specifications. This role also operates milling machines. Responsibilities Takes direction from immediate supervisor or Foreman. Complies with safety practices when operating equipment. Runs paving and milling machines safely and efficiently. Operates a variety of heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and Gradall, as needed for the job. Operates equipment within close proximity to underground utilities, pedestrians and crew members. Operates trucks and equipment safely and efficiently on public highways. Performs daily inspections on paving and milling machines. Wears personal protective equipment (PPE). Experience & Education 2 - 5 years' experience operating heavy equipment including paving and milling machines Prior paving/milling experience Highschool Diploma or G.E.D equivalent OSHA 10 and any relevant training certifications Valid Driver's License (CDL Class A or B preferred) Required Skills Safety-conscious Strong attention to detail Ability to work as a team player Willingness to learn and train on unfamiliar pieces of equipment Ability to work in all weather conditions Working Conditions The physical work environment is outdoors, at various job sites. Physical demands of the position include operating, standing, traversing, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and working in adverse weather conditions.
