The Detention/Transportation Officer is responsible for the secure and safe transportation, guarding, and escorting of detainees from specified sites to designated points. The Detention/Transportation Officer is responsible for ensuring that the transportation vehicles are in safe and correct working order. The Detention/Transportation Officer is to ensure that they are in complete control of the transport vehicles at all times and that vehicles are operated in a safe and legal manner. ROLE RESPONSIBILITY
Specific Duties and Essential Functions Perform audits and inspections of the services and personnel as described in the scope of work, and otherwise as needed to ensure requirements of client contract are being met Supervise, lead, coordinate and organize security guards and security teams as needed and appropriate for his or her assigned shift Act as a liaison to personnel and departments as needed and appropriate Perform monitoring, surveillance and other physical security functions as defined in post orders Perform incident detection and mitigation requirements including but not limited to checking systems, and responding to various events of varying severity including high severity such as breaches, life threatening events and natural disasters; investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required Maintain awareness of surroundings to promote physical security and safety; watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards Deter theft and damage to property Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or by vehicle Contribute to communication and awareness of security policies and issues as needed; warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles Provide facility escorting functions Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits; control/direct traffic; observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate client requirements Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons Provide assistance, directions, and support to employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Education, Licenses and Certifications Required High school diploma or equivalent Must be able to pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing Type and Length of Specific Experience Required Must possess a minimum of two (2) years driving experience Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience in any combination of the following: Law enforcement officer Military policeman Security officer engaged in functions related to detaining civil, administrative detainees Skills Required Effective oral and written communication skills Active listening skills Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately Attention to detail Other Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher Must be a citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment). Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military Physical Requirements and Environment
Environment:
Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat Major activity: Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Standing, walking, and sitting. Minimal to no stooping or kneeling
