The Village is seeking an individual to serve as a Public Works Equipment Operator. Work involves performance of a variety of tasks which may include repair and maintenance of parkways, trees, and alleys. Specific work assignments are provided on a daily basis and may be rotated. Work includes the operation of motorized equipment and requires heavy physical labor. The position is subject to being available for on-call duty for emergencies, as determined by the Director of Public Works, which requires availability at any hour or day. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This position is subject to being scheduled for on-call duty, which requires availability at any hour of any day. Operate backhoe, end loader, aerial device, grader, riding mower, street sweeper, skid-steer loader, chipper machine, and catch basin cleaner or other similar equipment in the course of performing assignments. Repair and maintenance of water and sewer lines. Repair and maintenance of streets, sidewalks and curbs. Operates snow plow, salt spreader or tractor as part of snow and ice control program. Landscapes and maintains parks, parkways and planted areas. General Facility, building and equipment maintenance. Operates and maintains department equipment. Complies with all Village Policies, Protocols, and Procedures. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Required Skills/Education/Experience Requires training or experience equivalent to the completion of standard high school requirements and a minimum of two years experience in public service operations or a related field. Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within the first six months of hire. Hours and Compensation The salary range for this position is $32.27 - $40.38 hourly. This is a full-time, union, non-exempt position. This position is eligible for overtime.
