Job Description

MEDICAL ASSISTANT FOR BOUTIQUE PLASTIC SURGERY PRACTICE RANSOM MD 450
Sutter Street, San Francisco, CA 94108 RANSOM MD is seeking a compassionate, friendly, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant for our extremely busy, boutique plastic surgery practice in prestigious Union Square of San Francisco. We have expanded in this past year and need someone to join our team as soon as possible. Dr. Evan Ransom/RANSOM MD has offices in both San Francisco and Mill Valley. The primary location for this role is our San Francisco office, although some minimal time in the Mill Valley location may be necessary. Our ideal candidate understands the overall surgical process and gains joy from helping people through this experience. This key teammate will usher our patients through a majority of their experience for surgeries, in-office procedures, as well as non-surgical treatments. Prior experience in plastic surgery, ENT, cosmetic dentistry or dermatology preferred. If you are a great guide/coach, have medical assistant/coordination experience, can work full-time or near fulltime (30+ hrs./wk), and are excellent at managing details, please consider joining our team!
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. High school diploma required; college degree preferred. 2. 3-5 years of experience working as a medical assistant for a plastic surgeon or like experience in medical setting. 3. Medical Assistant Certification
OVERALL SUMMARY OF DUTIES 1.
Patient experience, education and communication a. You establish excellent relationships with the patients
  • they would trust you and feel that you are an extension of the doctor and the practice. 2. Preparation, Set-Up and Tear-down of Operating Room, Treatment Rooms
  • daily open and closing and all preparation of rooms according to the doctor's preferences.
a. Overall, you know how to set up the rooms and procedures and are extremely knowledgeable on the tools, equipment, settings, protocols and after-care. 3. Proactively Manage Schedule/Patient Flow a. You review the day well, know what procedures are booked and where. You are on-time and are quick to greet and room patients. 4. In-Room Assistance for Office Procedures in Exam Rooms and OR a. You understand each of the procedures, the set-up, recording, charting and the next steps for each of them. You create a confident, comfortable environment for the patient having the procedure. 5. Understanding, Explanation of Services/Procedures
  • Educate patients as needed after doctor establishes the treatment plan.
a. Youensure the patient understands their treatment plan, understands the proper use of their medications/products, and understands their responsibility for compliance with the treatment plan prior to leaving the office. You excel at making sure they understand this and support the practice's protocols. You are able to explain things succinctly and make it easier for them. 6. Patient Post-Care
  • suture removal, cast removal, dressing changes, etc. a. For post-surgical patients, provide all necessary after-care per doctor's protocols and training/oversight 7. Specific Chart Notes/Patient Notes a. Maintain meticulous records of patient interactions and doctor's responses/instructions. 8. Patient Progress Plans
  • planning, explaining and scheduling (4) a.
Schedule all patients appointments in the treatment rooms for follow-ups as well as conduct transactions for services/products. 9. Maintain logs, monitor and track all expiration dates of supplies and drugs. Orders all supplies and drugs; when supplies are received cross checks against packing label's and puts in appropriate areas a. Timely review of supplies and disposables as well as ordering them is required for in-office procedures 10. Assist in patient pipeline communications as needed a. This may include following up, scheduling and/or helping the Patient Care Coordinator/Front Desk with communications to patients. May also require some reporting. 11. Perform various administrative duties as needed (cleaning, faxing, shipping, scanning, etc).
