Job Description

Driver Education Assistant II (part of State of Hawaii) 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars Oahu Island, HI Position Specific Description Recruitment Number 25-066KS , Driver Education Assistant II, SR-17, Honolulu, Oahu. Summary of Duties Responsible for the full range and variety of traffic-related cases coming within the scope of the Driver Education program; notifies motorists of the procedures involved for compliance with the court's order and the consequences of non-compliance; coordinates the implementation of the motorists' sentence; compiles and summarizes case information and recommends action for the court's disposition; conducts informational Driver Education courses as assigned; and performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualification Requirements Education Requirement :
Graduation from high school. Excess experience of the type described below or work experience requiring the ability to read and comprehend and apply written directions or a high degree of verbal skills may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
General Experience Requirement :
Four (4) years of progressively responsible interviewing/inquiry-related or information gathering experience which demonstrated that the applicant possesses the ability to deal courteously and effectively with people; exercise tact, ingenuity and resourcefulness in the collection of facts and information.
Specialized Experience Requirement :
One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience in a program relating to driver education, safety, training or licensing, demonstrating the knowledge of basic interviewing techniques, traffic court practices and procedures; traffic court terminology; forms and documents related to traffic court actions; traffic laws and related penalties; safe driving practices and human factors relating to poor driving; basic report writing. Allowable Substitutions of Education for
General Experience :
1. Successful completion of a one-year clerical or business curriculum from a business or technical school, community college or other comparable institution above the high school level may be substituted for one (1) year of General Experience. 2. Successful completion of a two-year clerical or business curriculum from a business or technical school, community college or other comparable institution above the high school level may be substituted for two (2) years of General Experience. 3. Study at an accredited college or university in a baccalaureate degree program may be substituted on the basis of one (1) academic year of study for one (1) year of General Experience up to a maximum of four (4) years.
Driver's License Requirement :
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle.
