Job Description and ResponsibilitiesControlling all incoming and outgoing traffic, ensuring that all customershave and wear all PPE while in the yard. Inspecting all loads and materialsaccording to company guidelines. Ensure safe interaction between customers andcompany equipment.
Inspect incoming scrap for fuel sourcesSegregate prohibited items in designated bins for further processing /disposalDirect customers to appropriate unloading areasInteract with customers and assist with unloading scrap metalObserve and practice all company safety rules and policiesMaintain constant and clear communication with the office, gate security andoperators controlling traffic in and out of unloading areaEnsure safe interaction with customers and company heavy equipment bymaintaining safe distanceEnsure customer codes are marked on each Scrap vehicleDocument any prohibited items rejected promptlyPerforms other duties as they might be assignedRequirementsMust have High school diploma or GEDNo experience necessary but previous work experience in a manufacturing,production, or similar scrapyard/auto part environment will be consideredan assetAble to meet the physical demands of the position including standing,walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderateto heavy lifting and pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the dayCustomer focus: Take responsibility for developing excellent customerservice making sure that all customer interactions are handled professionallyand expeditiously.
Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions including hot, drysummer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions
Knowledge and understanding of metallic materials purchased, ferrous andnon-ferrous classifications, an assetAbility to multi task in a progressive environment.
