Job Title:
Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)
Job Summary:
An Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) supports dentists in providing high-quality dental care by performing advanced clinical duties, including placing fillings, taking impressions, and polishing teeth. EFDAs are licensed or certified professionals with specialized training that allows them to perform more advanced tasks than a standard dental assistant.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures. Perform expanded clinical duties such as: Placing and carving composite restorations. Taking and pouring impressions. Placing dental sealants and temporary crowns. Removing sutures and placing matrices and wedges. Polishing coronal surfaces of teeth. Take, develop, and mount dental radiographs (X-rays). Educate patients on oral hygiene and postoperative care. Sterilize and disinfect instruments and operatory areas. Maintain accurate patient records and charts. Manage dental supplies and inventory for the clinical area.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited dental assisting program. Current EFDA certification/licensure. Current CPR and radiology certification. Strong knowledge of dental procedures, terminology, and instruments.

$30.00 - $45.00 per hour Expected hours: 38 per week
