Description Position Closes:
May 31, 2025 Job Description Assists Chief Plant Operator performing all duties necessary to maintain and operate the water treatment facilities pump stations wells tanks and PRV's. (Pressure reducing valves). Assist the Field Services Crew Chief performing duties as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Daily monitoring of system and facility equipment; and gathering and compilation of daily data. 2. Conducts compliance monitoring and process control testing. 3. Analyzes and monitors daily results to determine process changes required to maintain a quality effluent. 4. Maintains complete; accurate; and accessible lab records for all required testing. 5. Troubleshoots and repairs electronic components at plants and lift stations. 6. Conducts daily rounds at lift stations to obtain meter readings, check equipment, clean bar screen, and observe for any problems. 7. Assists with equipment maintenance. 8. Assists with compost operations or special projects as needed. 9. Assists the Chief Wastewater Operator in identifying and planning for future projects to enhance safety and plant performance. 10. Responsible for on-call and weekend testing, data recording, and observations at plants and lift stations, requiring independent decision making ability. 11. Coordinates and communicates with Chief Operator and other operators to maintain consistent on-call plant process control.

Serve on various employee or other committees as assigned. 2. Attend workshops; seminars and schools as applicable. 3. Other related duties as assigned
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works directly under the Chief Wastewater Treatment Operator Supervision Exercised None Education and Experience High School diploma or GED. One to two years' experience in wastewater or equivalent related education or specialized training. Valid Colorado Driver License or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of safety standards and procedures including confined space and chemical handling. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with supervisors, staff and the general public. Ability to accurately perform math calculations. Mechanical aptitude to repair and maintain facility equipment. Ability to establish effective working relationships. Working knowledge of personal computers and spreadsheets. Ability to respond to call-outs within 40 minutes. Skill in the operation of listed tools and equipment. Special Requirements Valid Colorado driver's license. Class D certification or greater in wastewater treatment or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Certification in wastewater collection or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Tools and Equipment Personal computer, telephone, mobile radio, copy machine, fax machine, printer, calculator, lab equipment, common hand and power tools, and motorized vehicles and equipment including pickup trucks, pumps, compressors, generators, front end loaders, backhoe, sewer jet truck, pneumatic equipment, and welder. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. Work Environment Work is performed mostly at the wastewater treatment facility which has a variety of work environments including an office setting, plant lab, compost hall, and indoor and outdoor treatment processing tanks. At the wastewater treatment facility, the employee could be exposed to toxic or hazardous chemicals and/or fumes, high voltage electricity, moving mechanical parts, vibration, biological hazards, confined spaces, high and precarious places, and water/drowning hazards. While outdoors the employee could be occasionally exposed to wet, cold, snowy, and/or humid conditions, heat and/or sun, and/or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in the office or lab, and moderate to high in the treatment facilities.
