August 4, 2025 Careerline Tech Center ( CTC ), located in Holland, Michigan, is a Career and Technical Education high school serving high school juniors and seniors. CTC is engaged in a search for a CTE Dental Instructor to teach and prepare students for a career as a Dental Hygienist. The ideal candidate will hold a current State of Michigan CTE endorsement in CIP Code 51.0000 - Health Sciences. A candidate may also qualify for an Annual Career Authorization (ACA) with a minimum of 4,000 hours of recent and relevant dental experience within the past 6 years that can be documented and verified. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned) Oversee curriculum: Develop and maintain a CTE curriculum aligned to Michigan's Health Sciences competencies and industry expectations in dental hygiene.Provide instruction:
Provide engaging and rigorous instruction of the curriculum in dental hygiene procedures, infection control, radiography, preventive care, dental anatomy, and clinical practices. Utilize both classroom and clinical lab settings to support hands-on learning. Ensure that instruction meets state standards and supports student credentialing opportunities.Incorporate Technology and Tools:
Utilize and embed industry-specific dental equipment, simulation tools, and digital technologies into daily instruction to reflect current practice standards.Oversee Work-Based Learning:
Collaborate with local dental offices, clinics, and community health providers to arrange work-based learning opportunities, clinical observations, and internships. Maintain an active program advisory committee to ensure program relevancy.Create and Nurture Partnerships:
Work collaboratively with staff, industry partners, and post-secondary institutions to provide students with opportunities for career and college advancement.Oversee Student Credential Attainment:
Support students in earning industry-recognized credentials or certifications relevant to dental health and hygiene.Develop Students:
Guide students in developing professional skills, including communication, ethical practices, teamwork, and patient care. Assist with post-secondary planning and transition.Keep Accurate Records:
Maintain accurate student records of student performance, program compliance and credential attainment. Ensure all student records comply with local, state, and federal regulations.Oversee Budget and Equipment:
Maintain a program budget. Order, maintain and manage all necessary equipment and supplies.Assure Safety and Compliance:
Maintain a safe and sanitary learning environment. Ensure all tools and materials are clean, functional, and compliant with safety and health standards in a dental environment. Engage inProfessional Development:
Participate in continuous professional development to maintain instructional and dental hygiene credentials and stay informed of evolving industry practices. Required Qualifications Teacher certification or ability to be granted a permit. Current Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) License or Doctor of Dentistry (DDS) in the State of Michigan to be maintained throughout employment. Current State of Michigan Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide Certifications must be maintained throughout employment. Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification must be maintained throughout employment. Radiography certification (preferred)Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from a program accredited by Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) OR an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) with a Bachelor Degree in a related field. Standard CTE certification in Health SciencesCIP 51.0000
(preferred). Minimum of three years of recent, relevant work experience in the dental field (dental hygiene or dentistry) required. Experience in chairside assisting, dental office management, or dental lab procedures required. Teaching experience with high school students in classroom and lab settings preferred.Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and infection control practices. Effective communication, classroom management, and student assessment skills. Proficiency in dental radiography, sterilization procedures, and dental software programs.?
