Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Ammonia Technician to maintain and operate essential plant utilities, including ammonia refrigeration systems, HVAC, steam boilers, thermal oil boilers, and other critical support equipment. The role ensures continuous facility operations, supports environmental compliance, and upholds safety standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain and operate ammonia refrigeration, Freon-based HVAC, steam boilers, thermal oxidizers, compressed air, and electrical distribution systems. Ensure continuous operation of utility systems to support production needs. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems. Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to optimize equipment efficiency. Maintain records and assist in compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulations. Provide technical analysis on refrigeration and operational equipment performance. Support emergency response efforts for hazardous chemical releases. Work with external vendors to maintain equipment and ensure regulatory compliance. Uphold Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company safety policies. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Working Conditions:
Manufacturing environment with exposure to extreme temperatures. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, climb stairs/ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs . Potential exposure to sugar dust, refrigerants, and chemicals . We encourage you to apply if you are a dedicated professional with expertise in ammonia refrigeration and plant utilities.
Requirements:
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Certifications:
Ammonia refrigeration certification
REQUIRED . HVAC
certification preferred. PSM training preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience working with ammonia refrigeration. Experience in a maintenance role, preferably within a food processing or manufacturing plant . Basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical distribution, and safety regulations. Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
