Experience and Production Job Overview:
A Low Voltage Installation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems, including but not limited to security systems, audio/video systems, telecommunications, data networking, and fire alarm systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of low voltage electrical systems and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and test low voltage systems, including security cameras, alarm systems, home automation, and structured cabling. Troubleshoot and repair low voltage systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams for proper installation and service. Ensure all installations and services comply with local and national electrical codes and regulations. Maintain accurate records of work performed, including installation logs, service reports, and maintenance schedules. Provide customer support and training on system operation and troubleshooting. Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure timely and efficient project completion. Ensure the safe handling and installation of equipment, following all safety guidelines. Assist with inventory management and procurement of necessary tools, materials, and equipment. Stay updated on industry trends and technologies, recommending improvements to existing systems when appropriate.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in low voltage systems or related field preferred. 2 years of previous experience with low voltage systems (such as security, telecom, audio/video, fire alarm, etc.) is highly preferred. Knowledge of low voltage wiring, cable management, and electrical code compliance. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. OSHA safety certification (or willingness to obtain) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in confined spaces and on ladders or scaffolding. Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor weather.
