Job Type Full-Time Job Number 2025-00395 Department Fire Logistics Opening Date 04/17/2025 Closing Date 5/1/2025 11:59 PM Eastern Work Hours Monday - Friday; 8-Hour Days Hiring Range $42,357.00 - $63,000.00 Job Description The Fleet Maintenance Specialist repairs and maintains equipment, vehicles and related systems. Work includes diagnosing, repairing, servicing and maintaining heavy and light duty vehicles and related equipment, ordering parts, entering data into the fleet management system, and maintaining other records. Duties and Responsibilities Performs diagnostics and repairs of heavy and light duty vehicles and equipment systems such as repair of HVAC, engine, brake systems, steering, suspension. Diagnoses and evaluates mechanical and electrical problems and determines need for repair or replacement of components Considering cost and service life of equipment, determines need for external service Provides road calls and repairs in field. Requests towing services for shop repair and/or transport vehicles to vendors for warranty repairs Performs preventative maintenance of vehicles, parks equipment and equipment systems. Monitors and maintains maintenance schedules, performs front-end alignments, maintains suspension systems, and identifies equipment wear or safety issues Fabricates parts, tools and equipment as required Enters and updates system data related to work orders and activity; maintains activity logs, records, files and reports Reviews parts inventory, researches requirements, and initiates orders to maintain adequate stock levels. Issues parts, equipment and supplies, and maintains inventory records Maintains cleanliness and general organization and upkeep of shop, tools, equipment and suppliesTypical Qualifications Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and four years of fleet and/or equipment maintenance experience related to assignment OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.Licensing and Certifications:
Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire Valid North Carolina Class A Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hireAdditional Information Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications. Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. ADA and Other Requirements Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Working Conditions:
