•Req Number•134757Job DescriptionRenders direct nursing care to assigned patients and carries out other nursing tasks and functions including technical/laboratory procedures. Assists the professional nurse in the provision of nursing care on the clinical unitJob Responsibility+ Assists the registered nurse in provision of nursing care.+ Gives direct patient care as assigned by the professional nurse.+ Administers medications and treatments according to policy.+ Observes, records and reports patients vital signs, symptoms and general condition to appropriate staff member.+ Prepares for and assists physicians and others with diagnostic procedures and treatments.+ Assists in patients' teaching program.+ Gathers data from patient/family which is used by Registered Nurse in making the initial assessment and developing a nursing care plan.+ Recognizes emergencies and initiates action.+ Maintains records relating to patient care+ Records nursing care given, observations and patients' responses to nursing interventions on progress notes.+ Charts medications and treatments administered and patients' reaction to same.+ Participates in gathering data on patients upon admission to provide information from which a nursing care plan can be developed.+ Assists in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients by keeping the patient's bedside unit and surroundings clean, safe and noise free as possible.+ Performs related duties, as required.Job Qualification+ High School Diploma or equivalent, required.+ Completed accredited Practical Nurse program, required.+ Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of New York+ Previous related experience preferred.•Additional Salary Detail•The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
