Job Description

Dental Assistant The Smile Center Ashland, VA A dental assistant is the right (and sometimes left) hand of the Dentist, an office cannot run smoothly without one! That is why we are looking to add a friendly and professional dental assistant to our team at Smile Center. We thrive on working as a team and delivering high-quality patient care for our patients, in a family-type atmosphere! And we have fun doing it! We are a close-knit group who enjoys working together, learning together in continuing education, and even playing together outside of the office. We are committed to continual improvement! M - Th 8am - 5pm

Education/Experience:
High school diploma Dental Assisting education Current license/certifications Xray Certification required Dental Assisting experience required Requirements & Contributions to the team: Prepare patients, sterilize or disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, or assist dentist during dental procedures. Dental diagnostic x-rays. Record treatment information in patient records. Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients. Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by the dentist. Assist dentists in management of medical or dental emergencies. Pour, trim, and polish study casts. Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs. Make preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts. Clean and polish removable appliances. Clean teeth, using dental instruments. Apply protective coating of fluoride to teeth. Fabricate temporary restorations or custom impressions from preliminary impressions Other duties related to the dental assistant
