Job Description

Grading Foreman 2.7 2.7 out of 5 stars 9520 County Road 19, Loretto, MN 55357 SUMMARY The primary responsibility of the Grading Foreman is to oversee on-site crews and manage day-to-day field operations for grading and excavation projects. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring that work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and company standards. The Foreman reports directly to the Vice President of Sales and is expected to exercise sound judgment and discretion in all aspects of the role.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Scheduling:
Develop and maintain project schedules, allocating time and resources appropriately to ensure deadlines are met.
Plan and Specification Review:
Interpret and apply project plans and specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
Budget Awareness:
Maintain a clear understanding of project budgets, including original bid assumptions, and manage work accordingly.
Resource Coordination:
Request and coordinate necessary personnel and equipment in alignment with project scope and schedule.
Daily Documentation:
Complete accurate daily reports using HCSS, ensuring all labor, materials, and activities are properly recorded under the correct job number.
Team Leadership:
Lead by example with professionalism, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to team performance.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to and enforce all applicable company, state, and federal safety regulations, including AWAIR, Confined Space, DOT, and other policies.
Training Participation:
Attend all required internal training and pursue recommended external learning opportunities.
Communication:
Maintain consistent communication with the Vice President of Field Operations to ensure safe and effective job site operations.
Schedule Flexibility:
Work flexible hours, including overtime, when necessary, to meet project demands.
Regulatory Compliance:
Maintain a valid DOT "Qualified Driver Status" and comply with all applicable laws and company policies. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring strict adherence to safety protocols at all times.
Other Duties:
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Address and respond to unforeseen circumstances such as delays, inclement weather, or site emergencies. Collaborate with the dispatcher to ensure appropriate staffing and equipment are scheduled for each project. Coordinate with Project Managers to track and document any additional work beyond the original scope, using correct task codes.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel to various job sites locally and out of town; valid state driver's license required.
Stress Tolerance:
Capacity to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
Physical Requirements:
Capable of lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and assisting laborers when necessary.
Technical Proficiency:
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and HCSS software for reporting and communication. Knowledge of GPS systems Topcon and Trimble preferred.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
