MAINTENANCE
LEVEL II
Summary:
Maintenance Technicians Level II is part of a team developed to maintain manufacturing production, quality and safety by ensuring the operation of production equipment and support equipment. The position performs additional support by performing building maintenance, equipment installation and repairs and troubleshooting diverse problems in a Converting Paper Manufacturing Company.
Responsibilities:
Ensure the operation of production machinery by completing preventive maintenance requirement on rewinders, wrappers, case packers and associated equipment. Locate and repair the source of problems with production equipment by observing the equipment in operation, using troubleshooting skills and testing equipment. Remove and repair or replace defective components. Adjust functional parts of equipment of using computer controls, manual controls, hand tools and power tools as needed to return equipment to designed operational condition. Reduce downtime by informing operators of best practices for maintenance and operational techniques to use when operating equipment. Fabricate simple repair parts by using hand and power tools available in the maintenance shop. Provides management with information concerning machine operation. Work with purchasing to order new or replacement parts. Make suggestions to improve quality, safety or production. Assist with grade changes on production lines. Assist with training of new maintenance technicians and operators. Maintain a work team relationship with other trades by communicating and working together. Repair and or replace hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Perform advanced welding, brazing and soldering. Use of cutting torch, plasma cutter and other equipment. Rebuild, replace and install new or upgraded machine components. Rebuild pumps and gearboxes. Work with vendors on equipment upgrades and modifications. Rebuild or repair core machine components. Train level 1technicians and machine operators. More complex fabrication of replacement parts.
Housekeeping:
Maintains a clean safe work environment. Clean up area after completing repairs. Return unused parts to proper storage area.
Safety:
Level 1 technician must understand and use lock-out, tag-out procedures. Wear appropriate safety gear when working on equipment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Mechanical training 1 year working experience. Basic knowledge of computer use, good math skills, mechanical aptitude.
Other:
Ability to work safely in a multi-functional team environment. Ability to handle multiple priorities. Problem solving and decision making skills. Motivated self-starter. Must maintain excellent safety and attendance performance.
