DENTAL ASSISTANT ASSOCIATE - PAES
How to Apply Responsibilities•
Clinical Operations:
Assistant with patient management in PAES by seating and preparing patients for treatment promptly to keep on schedule, assisting with patient concerns, escorting patients to various locations throughout the school, and using the EHR for various patient-related activities and documentation. Prepare instruments, materials, & work surfaces for use by students, residents, and faculty. Assist students, residents, and Faculty/staff dentist chair-side when needed, including obtaining and processing radiographs. Follow current Infection control standards pertaining to OSHA guidelines and HIPPA and assist with infection control monitoring of faculty, students, and residents along with quality assurance processes in the clinic. Oversee compliance with OSHA standards, calibration of instruments, infection control compliance, clinical record keeping and necessary forms.
Clerical Operations:
May assist in developing and revising training procedures and assisting in training dental students and maintain clinic policies and procedures for patient care. Schedule patient appointments.
Inventory and Equipment Management:
Support the PAES operationally by cleaning, disinfecting, preparing, and arranging work surfaces, instrument storage cabinets, sinks, water bottles, and dispensing areas; prepare and maintain dental instruments, including assembly and packaging for sterilization, package clinic supplies for distribution; maintain an inventory of supplies in the work area; an order office/dental supplies, instruments and equipment; perform routine preventative maintenance on dental units, chairs, and operatory lights; oversee equipment function and report dental equipment repair and maintenance/replacement needs. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications• High School Diploma or GED. 0 - 2 years of Dental experience; Reasonable knowledge of dental clinic practices and procedures Current BLS for Healthcare Providers Radiography certification Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting. Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills. Knowledge of
HIPPA, OSHA
standards, and aseptic techniques Desired Qualifications• Certificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program Some knowledge of dental materials, dental instruments, and dental equipment. Some dental assisting experience working within a dental health care setting Familiarity with Axium dental record systems. Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
