Questions Description Overview:
Are you a skilled and experienced electrician ready to take on complex electrical work that supports critical infrastructure? Valley Water is seeking aSenior Industrial Electricianto perform a wide range of advanced electrical maintenance, repair, and installation tasks across our facilities. This role ensures the safety, reliability, and efficiency of electrical systems vital to Valley Water operations — including power distribution, lighting, emergency backup systems, building automation controls, and equipment power feeds. You'll be responsible for inspecting and troubleshooting both low
  • and high-voltage systems, interpreting electrical schematics, executing repairs or upgrades, and responding to electrical outages.

+ Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and Valley Water procedures. + Install, upgrade, and modify electrical infrastructure and equipment across various buildings and systems. + Interpret and work from electrical plans, schematics, and technical documentation; maintain detailed records and prepare as-built documentation. + Estimate labor, tools, and materials needed for electrical work; coordinate efforts with contractors and internal teams. + Respond to electrical outages and emergencies, ensuring quick and safe resolution

Ideal Experience:
+ Six (6) years of post-apprenticeship experience performing complex electrical maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting in a utility or large commercial setting.
Ideal Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ In-depth knowledge of modern practices in the electrical trade. + Experience with large motors, standby generators, switchgear, and high-voltage substation equipment. + Understanding of applicable codes and safety regulations, including theNational Electric CodeandCalifornia Electrical Safety Orders. + Skilled in diagnosing and repairing a wide range of electrical systems and components. + Proficiency in using test and measurement equipment such as multimeters, meggers, and circuit tracers. + Ability to review engineering drawings and propose operational improvements or modifications. + Knowledge of electrical inventory control and material management. + Strong understanding of electrical theory, circuit design, and safety best practices. + Experience working on electrical infrastructure in facilities operations or water utility environments is highly desirable.
Ideal Training and Education:
+ Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Required License or Certificate + Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license. Valley Water Telework Program:
Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. Employment with Valley Water requires employees to live within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in San Jose, California by their start date. This position requires the individual to be onsite and is typically not a teleworking position.
