GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Technology Systems Support Specialist supports the school district's technology needs by providing technical support to staff and students, assisting with the maintenance of IT infrastructure & systems, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. The role emphasizes user support, troubleshooting, and assisting with the integration of technology across the District. The Technology Systems Support Specialist also assists with managing classroom technology and basic AV systems. Success in this position requires accountability, a collaborative mindset, adaptability, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering reliable technology solutions to staff and students.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent; education, training, and/or experience in dealing with computer hardware and software troubleshooting, customer support and service, preferably in an educational or professional setting. Must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, general audio video (AV) knowledge, and the ability to adapt to new challenges & technologies.

SALARY RANGE
$19.50 - $22.50 based on experience & qualifications, Wisconsin Retirement Benefits and Dean Health Plan/Delta Dental (cash in lieu also available)
RESPONSIBILITIES
The School District of Cambridge expects that all employees demonstrate appropriate demeanor including the use of proper language, courtesy, maintenance of self-control and the treatment of supervisors, staff, students, and other citizens with respect. Each employee will be expected to maintain the highest integrity in regard to confidential information and work cooperatively with building principals in maintaining a safe and healthy school environment. Each employee will demonstrate a high level of responsibility and accountability. In addition, the Technology Systems Support Specialist will be responsible for: User Support (40%)
Help Desk Support :
Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support to staff and students for hardware, software, and network issues. Respond to help desk tickets promptly and efficiently, aiming for resolution within 24 hours when feasible. Offer guidance on basic IT-related tasks and inquiries.
Classroom Technology Support :
Provide technical support for classroom technology tools and equipment, such as interactive whiteboards, projectors, and audiovisual systems. Collaborate with teachers to integrate technology into lesson plans and instructional activities. Conduct training sessions for teachers and staff on effective use of educational technology in cooperation with the District Technology Specialist and Director of Technology. Infrastructure Management (25%)
Network Administration:
Assist in managing and maintaining the school district's network infrastructure. Monitor network performance and security, addressing issues proactively.
System Administration:
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights across various systems and platforms. Perform routine system updates, patches, and backups to ensure data integrity and system security. Troubleshoot server operations and application functionality.
Virtualization Management:
Manage virtualized environments, such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix or Proxmox to optimize resource usage. Monitor virtual machine performance and health, troubleshoot issues, and implement adjustments for optimal efficiency. Security and Compliance (20%)
Cybersecurity Management:
Implement and enforce cybersecurity best practices, policies, and procedures to protect against cyber threats and data breaches. Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify and address vulnerabilities. Assist the Director of Technology in providing cybersecurity awareness training to staff and students.
Data Management and Reporting :
Assist in managing student information systems (SIS) and learning management systems (LMS). Ensure accurate and secure data entry and reporting. Maintain confidentiality and integrity of student and staff data in compliance with privacy regulations. Technology Asset Management (10%) Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and peripherals. Professional Development (5%) Stay updated on trends in educational technology and best practices in IT support, system administration, and cybersecurity.
