Telecommunications Maintenance 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Minneapolis-Saint Paul, MN The Wireless Technician (Level 2) performs a wide variety of field activities associated with installing, maintaining, and servicing wireless telecommunications equipment. This role works with other technicians in a team-oriented environment to complete various projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Install, maintain, test, repair, remove or retrofit various wireless systems including rooftop macro, pole mount macro and small cells, indoor distributed antenna systems (IDAS) and outdoor distributed antenna systems (ODAS) Install vertical/horizontal cabling Determine and pull best path routes Adhere to coax and fiber installation standards PPC compression tool kit installation Reading blueprints and construction drawings Installation of antennas including rooftop, racks, radio(s), and remote units Head end rack and component installation DAS, small cell, macro OEM installation Label coax cables, antennas, head ends, cable management Power cabling and grounding of head end/active equipment Operate a lift and/or bucket truck Managerial Responsibility No direct reports Travel/Shift Requirements Ability to travel up to 80% of the time Physical Demands Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Ability to work outdoors, on ladders, and in confined spaces Ability to work with and around electrical wires and components and/or ESD products Ability to work remotely at construction or installation sites Ability to repeatedly ascend and descend ladders and lifts up to 50 feet Ability to climb heights up to 70 feet as required Ability to work indoor/outdoor Skills and Abilities Required Experience reading blueprints or construction drawings (to include but not limited to: specifications, reporting, and design requirements) Experience in cable and/or hardware installation Experience with hand and power tools Must be familiar using PIM and sweep testing equipment Experience with outdoor installation such as rooftop cell sites, satellites, cable TV installation, or tower/microwaves Experience and willingness to work at heights up to 70 ft on ladders, lifts, or similar equipment and levels Attention to detail Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment Ability to complete work in a timely manner Ability to communicate in a professional manor with all internal contacts (peers, supervisors & managers) as well as external customers, vendors or others Must possess a valid driver's license, must be insurable under company insurance policy Knowledge of telecom carrier standards preferred Education and Experience Required High school diploma or GED Minimum of 1 year of field installation experience Wireless industry experience preferred
