Yes Pay Information $70,392-$91,999/year Pay Schedule Hourly FLSA Designation Non-Exempt Position Summary A University Police Officer will perform general and varied police work in the protection of life and property through overall security measures and the enforcement of laws and ordinances. The police officer will have the responsibility to perform routine police assignments received from a dispatcher or a police supervisor. General duties will consist of routine patrol, case investigation, traffic regulation, and crime prevention efforts. The police officer must be able to act without direct supervision and to exercise independent judgment in meeting emergencies, conducting investigations, and determining the appropriate outcome to such case investigations. Employees may receive special assignments which call upon specialized abilities and knowledge usually acquired through experience as a police officer. Will be required to assist other personnel of the police department in conduction investigations, interviews, interrogations, searches, arrests, referrals, along with associated documentation. Assignments and instruction are received from a superior officer who reviews work methods and results through reports, personal inspection, and discussion.Job Duties Responsibility Area:

Conducts accident investigations. Conducts criminal civil investigations to gather, document, and preserve evidence; writes criminal and civil incident reports. Counsels, detains, cites, and/or arrests members of the public responsible for criminal activity and makes appropriate dispositions; transports to detoxification, mental health, or medical facilities, or books into jail or youth detention facilities. (E) Prepares complete, concise and accurate case file documentation of investigations including referrals, citations, reports, and court documents. Provides traffic and crowd control; responds to life threatening situations; provides non-police related support services as needed, such as locking and unlocking buildings and facilities, call-outs of maintenance, grounds, custodial, academic and administrative personnel for incidents occurring during evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. (E) Implements district emergency preparedness plan including emergency evacuation plans, secures perimeters, coordinates fire, medical, communication, utilities, and other emergency services. (E) Attends mandatory department training to maintain required police standards to include (but not limited to) firearms range, defensive tactics, motor vehicle pursuit, and criminal law. (E) Transports/delivers items to various locations as assigned. (E) Responds to subpoenas; and testifies in Municipal, Superior, and Federal court as required; operates law enforcement computer systems. (E) Special assignments such as, but not limited to, emergency disaster planning, cadet program, evidence and property, crime prevention, gangs, detective, parking maintenance, or specific granted funded assignments.
