SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in the state of Washington. LWTech offers 12 bachelor's degrees, 42 associate degrees, and 70 professional certificates in 41 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. LWTech serves the Eastside and is located within the city of Kirkland, which is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Washington. Kirkland is home to companies such as GoDaddy, Google, Astronics and EvergreenHealth, and the college is within minutes from Microsoft and Nintendo. Summary of position: Perform campus maintenance functions in all areas of business operations, as well as light construction. Coordinate daily activities with other department and college employees. Must be able to work without supervision; hours may vary with duties to be performed or as shift is assigned. In the capacity of a journey level trades worker, inspect, maintain, and perform building maintenance and repair including light construction and remodeling. Ensure regular preventative maintenance is conducted on building systems. Work performed will be in all environments of the campus and may involve dealing with inclement weather and assisting with snow removal. This is an on-call position. Hours and locations within the college will vary depending on need.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform mechanical, electrical, and structural maintenance and repair in all areas of building operations such as inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing building and utility distribution systems and their related components Overhaul and repair burners, pipelines, pumps, motors, fans, temperature control equipment, valves, dampers, boiler controls and safety devices, monitoring devices, fire alarms, and clock-bell systems, and other physical plant equipment Operate hand and power tools in a skilled manner; fabricate material and equipment in workshops; Perform work associated with the campus preventive maintenance system Perform light construction (preliminary cost estimates, construction designs and implementation, building, automation, etc.) of building projects Perform general carpentry, painting, and other related duties
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of college or vocational training in related field preferred Two years work experience journey level capacity as a building engineer; related experience in telecommunications background, commercial electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and refrigeration/HVAC background Knowledge of distributed digital control building operations (Alerton preferred), and PC-based programs, including preventive maintenance programs Preferred licenses include journey level commercial electrician, journey level plumber, journey level carpenter, journey level welder, journey level machinist, fourth grade boiler engineer; refrigeration engineer; Universal EPA refrigeration technician certification, low voltage telecommunications licenses (substitutions considered on a case-by-case basis) Excellent verbal, written, and e-mail communication skills Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including employees, students, vendors, etc.; Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and access all areas of the building Possess valid Washington state driver's license

Compensation & Work Schedule Hourly rate of pay is $32.91 This is a on-call temporary position. Work hours will vary depending on college needs.
