GED Full Job Description Duties :
Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Maintenance & Repair, the Heavy Equipment Foreman is responsible for: Must be able to train, motivate and direct the actions of assigned staff. Supervising assigned staff, maintaining staff records, completing payrolls, and performing employee evaluations. Organizing, prioritizing, and assigning work in a logical and efficient manner. Operating and maintaining all heavy equipment used in this department including graders, Caterpillars, loaders, tractors, trucks and landscaping equipment. Transporting and delivering heavy and bulky materials. Earthmoving, grading, trenching and snow removal, maintenance of roadways and parking lots. Keeping accurate records of supplies and equipment. Making time reports and other reports as required. Operation of the weld maintenance work shop. Fabricating and repairing metal work required for the Park District. Planning work and supervising workmen assigned. The occasional maintenance/repair welding of vehicles within the Park District. Preparing estimates of labor and material costs for work as required. Requisitioning supplies and materials required for work. Keeping inventory of all metal stock. Keeping accurate records of labor and material costs for work performed. Following all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed. Supporting all aspects of the Park District's safety program. Performing other related duties as assigned.
Pay Scale:
Apprentice Rate:
$26.92 per hour; After 3 months, base pay: $33.65 per hour. Maximum pay rate is $35.65 per hour.
Essential Functions :
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to reach equipment required for completing job duties. Ability to operate a motor vehicle weighing 16 tons. Ability to operate power machinery relative to job duties. Ability to understand and complete record keeping and paperwork relative to job duties.
Education :
A high school diploma or junior college certificate is required.
Experience :
Minimum of three years experience in operation of heavy motor equipment such as graders, Caterpillars, loaders, tractors and trucks. Must hold a valid CDL driver's license.
Knowledge and Ability :
High degree of skill in the operation, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment used in the park system. Ability to work effectively with Park District personnel and supervise workmen as assigned. Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
Personal:
Work record that shows reliability, initiative, creativity, tact, and resourcefulness. This position is represented by the Teamsters Local Union No. 627.
