Directly supervise and coordinate activities of construction or extraction worker. Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools. Cut, shape, and assemble wooden articles or set up and operate a variety of woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, and mortisers to surface, cut, or shape lumber or to fabricate parts for wood products.What You'll Do :
15%: Supervise, coordinate, or schedule the activities of construction or extractive workers. 15%: Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures. 15%: Inspect work progress, equipment, or construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met. 15%: Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment. 15%: Coordinate work activities with other construction project activitiesWorking Conditions:
Works in an environment with potential exposure to fumes, dirt, noise, equipment movement dangers, vibrations, dangerous chemical/solvents, electrical shock, and inclement temperature extremesPhysical/Mental Exertion:
Ability to perform heavy physical labor exerting up to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis and up to 50 pounds of force on a frequent basis performing such tasks as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and fingeringWhat We're Looking For :
Education:
Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty.Experience:
2+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.Licenses/Certifications:
Apprentice Carpenter, Journeyman Carpenter preferred. Requires valid driver's license, state-issued CDL preferred.Technical Abilities:
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures, good mathematical skills and mechanical abilities. Ability to perform manual construction work and equipment operation as described.Autonomy/Direction:
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works with intermittent supervisor. Primary job functions require exercising independent judgment and mentoring junior carpenters. Typically reports to a supervisor/managerTools and Equipment:
