The Position The County of Santa Barbara is currently implementing Workday as the County's new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution and we are recruiting to fill one (1) full-time position in Santa Barbara, CA. The working title for this role is Workday Support Specialist and the payroll tile (i.e. job classification title) is Computer Systems Specialist II. There is flexibility in where this position can be based but travel throughout the County may be required. This role offers a hybrid telecommuting schedule and onsite work is required typically 1-2 days per week. During peak periods in the implementation cycle, additional onsite days may be needed. This position will be responsible for providing support activities related to the Workday platform and adjacent systems. This person will be a daily contact for users utilizing the Workday support desk. Additionally, this role will be part of a team of Workday functional and technical subject matter experts (Workday Support Organization) and will help provide configuration, testing and other support of Workday and related systems.

Examples of Duties Some key responsibilities for this role are: Completes a queue of support cases relating to the Workday ERP system, prioritizing issues based on severity and customer impact; Provides Tier I support by email, service ticket or phone call; Drafts, maintains, and edits content for online delivery, release notes and release publications; Documents, monitors, receives, details, reports, analyzes, escalates, resolves, and tracks customer requests for support; Collaborates with functional leads in the testing of Workday ERP programs and applications; Consistently provides excellent customer service; Communicates issues and solutions with team members clearly and effectively; Performs related duties as assigned. Employment Standards The employment standards for this classification vary by assignment, but will include completion of training in the general principles of computerized applications, basic principles of computer programming and the use of computer applications that are similar to those currently used by the hiring department; and a minimum of two years of experience in one or more of the following areas: A) providing direct technical support to others using computer equipment for office applications on a local area or wide area network, including desktop configurations; hardware and software installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting; user access and problem-solving; B) adapting existing database software, spreadsheets, and other programs to best meet end user needs, or C) developing and maintaining internet or intranet web sites; or, one year of experience as a Computer Systems Specialist I with the County of Santa Barbara; or, a combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Additional Qualifications:
Incumbents may be required to travel throughout the county.
Knowledge of:
the functions and operations of computers, commercial computer software including database software, and of local area networks (LANs), including hardware/software installation; Web site layout, composition, design, and management; Web site authoring software, methods for creating dynamic content, and graphics applications commonly used in Web site development; general principles of office automation, and computer systems analysis; a variety of hardware, operating systems, and related software used by the hiring department.
Ability to:
analyze and resolve user needs and problems; interpret and apply information from technical manuals; communicate on technical issues with individuals with varying degrees of computer familiarity; instruct others in the use of computerized information systems; adapt existing database software, spreadsheets, and other programs to best meet departmental or end user needs; create and update Web sites to meet departmental needs; establish and maintain effective working relationships with department staff, information technology staff, and contractors; plan, organize, and prioritize the work of self and others; provide direct or functional supervision to other departmental staff. Supplemental Information regarding potential requirements for some positions: The ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds; work in tight or awkward spaces, such as under desks, to move back and forth within and between office and equipment rooms. Work on weekend or off hours and be on standby during peaks/special assignments. Successfully complete a background check.

Supplemental Questionnaire Ranking:
If there are more than 11 qualified candidates, the next step in the selection process will be a supplemental questionnaire ranking. Responses to the required supplemental questionnaire will be evaluated and scored. Candidates' final score and rank on the employment list will be determined by the supplemental questionnaire ranking. Candidates must receive a percentage score of at least 70 on the Supplemental Questionnaire Ranking to be placed on an employment list. An adjustment may be made to raw scores based on factors listed in Civil Service Rule VI. Those candidates who are successful in the selection process will have their names placed on the employment list for a minimum of three months. At the time the employment list is established, all candidates will receive written notice of their score on the exam(s), rank on the employment list, and exact duration of the employment list. Completion of a 12-month probationary period is required.
Conditional Job Offer:
Once a conditional offer of employment has been made, candidate will be required to successfully complete a background check, which includes a conviction history check, LiveScan fingerprinting, and satisfactory reference checks.
