Job Description

Traveling Field Service Machinist Location:
Nationwide Travel Required Employment Type:
Full-Time, Direct Hire System One is seeking an experienced Traveling Field Service Machinist to join our team. This advanced-level position focuses on repairing steam and gas turbine components and requires extensive travel. You'll work on-site, troubleshooting and repairing field machines while collaborating with engineering teams to develop specialized tooling designs.
Key Details:
Compensation:
Salaried (40 hours paid when not traveling) + Incentive Pay Bonus based on performance/workload. $28 an/hour - $40 an/hour depending on experience/level.
Travel Requirements:
50-100% (typically 2-4 weeks per month; peak seasons in spring and fall)
Expenses:
All travel expenses covered
Required Credentials:
Valid driver's license and passport
Ideal Experience:
Gas turbine generator repair, strong mechanical/machining skills
Responsibilities:
Perform repairs on field machines such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, and grinding equipment. Interpret blueprints, planning sheets, and technical data to determine tooling requirements and machining methods. Operate machines, adjust controls, and ensure all parts meet precision standards. Conduct dimensional inspections to verify quality and accuracy. Train and mentor other machinists while collaborating with engineering teams. Maintain machines, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safety compliance. Travel extensively and obtain/maintain access qualifications for nuclear plant environments.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent + 8+ years of relevant experience
Technical Skills:
Strong machining, mechanical repair, and problem-solving skills
Computer Proficiency:
Experience with email, word processing, spreadsheets, and technical drawings
Physical Requirements:
