Role:
The Talent Engagement Specialist will play a pivotal role in delivering seamless onboarding experience for new employees, including developing onboarding programs, conducting orientation sessions, and providing ongoing support to new employees. You will oversee the onboarding workflow within our UKG system, ensuring all documentation and processes are managed efficiently. Your efforts will be instrumental in setting a positive tone for employees' journeys, ensuring they feel supported, informed, and prepared to excel from their first day.
Scheduled Weekly Hours:
This is a full-time, hybrid, position working 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm. The employee will complete 90 days of training onsite in Capitola and then may work 3 days per week remote following a successful training period. What you'll be doing: Own and Execute the
End-to-End Onboarding Experience:
Serve as the primary point of contact for new hires, coordinating every step of the onboarding process—from offer acceptance through the first 60 days—to ensure a seamless and engaging experience.
Manage Onboarding Logistics and Compliance:
Set up new employee profiles in UKG, track task completion, and manage all required paperwork including I-9s, tax forms, contracts, and compliance documents.
Develop and Facilitate New Hire Programs:
Create and host New Employee Orientation (NEO) sessions, onboarding presentations, and customized onboarding agendas that align with department needs. Partner with
Hiring Managers and Key Stakeholders:
Collaborate with hiring managers to develop role-specific onboarding plans and ensure alignment on new hire expectations and preparedness.
Enhance Engagement and Early Integration:
Welcome new employees, proactively communicate before their start date, assign mentors, coordinate new hire lunches, and schedule check-ins at 30 and 60 days.
Ensure Resource Readiness and Departmental Coordination:
Liaise with Technology, Total Rewards, Facilities, and other departments to guarantee new hires have the tools and support they need from day one. Continuously Improve the
Onboarding Process:
Identify innovative, scalable approaches to improve the onboarding experience and support HR with ongoing administrative and engagement initiatives.
You're Perfect For This Role If You Have:
2-5 years of experience in HR, onboarding, or a related administrative role where you've thrived managing processes and people. A background in the financial services industry—especially in a credit union or banking environment—giving you insight into the unique needs of the sector (a big plus!). Familiarity with UKG or similar HRIS/onboarding systems, and you're comfortable navigating digital tools to keep processes running smoothly. Exceptional organizational skills and a sharp eye for detail—you catch the small stuff before it becomes a big deal. A high level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential employee information. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook. A natural ability to connect with others, backed by strong interpersonal skills and a genuine customer-service mindset.

Bay Federal considers many factors in determining base pay such as experience, education/training, internal peer equity, job location, and other business considerations when extending an offer. For Santa Cruz, CA only, the pay scale Bay Federal reasonably expects to pay for this position is $25.82 - $32.25 per hour. Salaries are based on the geographic location in which you live if working remotely. Bay Federal provides health care benefits, life and disability insurance, paid holidays and 401k with a company match to eligible employees; along with employee paid voluntary benefits. Paid time off is accrued per paycheck for eligible employees at a rate based on your tenure. Leaves of absences are available in adherence with state and federal regulations.
