Accounting Specialist 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars 3315 Harrisburg Boulevard, Houston, TX 77003 JOB SUMMARY The Accounting Specialist is responsible for assisting in the accounting process, including month-end closings as required. The Accounting Specialist also provides support for the Consolidated and LIHTC audit processes, annual budgeting, and other special projects.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect and print all invoices and obtain appropriate operational approvals.
- Codes all invoices in accordance with budgets and submits to AP/ AR Accountant for Finance approval.
- Set up new vendors in accounting software.
- Interact with vendors and supplies to obtain W-9's before payments are remitted and maintain W-9 records.
- Creates all accounts payable voucher and process vendor checks.
- Monitor all daily credit card purchases.
- Collect all mileage and expense reports, verify authorizations.
- Assist with processing Year-End 1099's.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Maintains accounting files.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university in accounting (preferred)Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant accounting experience.
- AP Processing & MS Office Experience
- Excel in particular
- High proficiency level with computer functions, financial database management reporting systems, accounts receivables, accounts payable and Microsoft Office.
- Attention to detail in written reports and financial documents.
- Experience with a real estate management and development company is valued.
- Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills coupled with excellent writing ability, oral communication and presentation skills.
- Strong time-management skills with an ability to prioritize wisely, work independently, customize work product and adapt to changing demands.
- Strategic thought process with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
- Sound judgment and proficiency in problem solving with diplomacy.
- Effective approach to collaboration as a team player.
- Positive, confident, and results-oriented attitude with a service-oriented spirit.
