) Salary $52,431.00 Annually Location New Orleans, LA Job Type Probationary Job Number 11318/7167 Department Police Department Opening Date 03/28/2025 Closing Date Continuous Kind of Work Field Operations Bureau Specialization Highly responsible protective services and administrative work in conducting police traffic support work including taking initial minor traffic reports, writing traffic citations and other traffic related support. Examples of work include, but are not limited to: respond to traffic accidents, prepare traffic incident reports in the E-Crash system, maintain knowledge of state, municipal, criminal, and traffic laws, testify in court, assist with stalled motorists, traffic hazards and help with traffic control, assist with crowd control during special events, respond to the scene to perform support services and document and collect physical evidence as required, assists police officers in any non-hazardous situations and responds to any request for help; and related duties as required. Alternative Police Response Specialization Highly responsible protective services and administrative work performing a variety of tasks in support of law enforcement activities including crime prevention, investigations, and response where full police powers are unnecessary. Duties include handling calls for service not requiring the presence of a sworn officer. Work includes, but is not limited to collecting and booking property and evidence, testifying in court, responding to the scene to perform support services and to document and collect physical evidence as required, taking photos, canvassing for witnesses, and the preparation of reports. Working may include assisting with stalled motorists, traffic hazards and helping with traffic control, assisting police officers in non-hazardous situations, nuisance property investigations and responding to any request for help. Incumbents may assess the premises on burglary scenes and provide residents and business owners or staff with safety advice to prevent further burglaries; and related duties as required. Public Integrity Bureau Specialization Highly responsible protective services and administrative work assisting in the preliminary phase of investigations in the Public Integrity Bureau (P.I.B.) of the New Orleans Police Department. The responsibilities of this job include conducting investigative research for all P.I.B. cases; documenting areas of violation, collecting and preserving P.I.B. case evidence; analysis of P.I.B. case documentation including but not limited to: audio-taped statements, photographs, payroll records, daily activity sheets, and police incident reports; rmending appropriate investigative course of action for P.I.B. cases; conducting preliminary case interviews to identify all accused members of N.O.P.D.; performing weekly statistical analysis of all cases to include in P.I.B.'s weekly Comstat Report; drafting of all case correspondences uponpletion of investigation; acting as a liaison between P.I.B. and all district personnel; and related duties as required. Special Victims Unit Specialization Highly responsible protective services and administrative work in support of the Investigations Division Special Victims Section. Incumbents will assist in conducting and reviewing a variety of criminal investigations and prosecution activities. Work includes conducting victim and witness forensic interviews for cases including child sexual and physical abuse, adult sexual abuse, domestic violence, and crimes against elders. Work also includes assisting the section's staffing, collecting evidence, and preparing related police reports as well as assisting the District Attorney's Office in cases and testifying as an expert witness in court when needed; and related duties as required. Homicide Unit Specialization Highly responsible protective services and administrative work in support of the Investigations Division Homicide Section. Incumbents will assist in conducting and reviewing homicide investigations and prosecution activities. Work includes conducting interviews and interrogations for homicide cases. Work also includes assisting the section's staffing, collecting and reviewing evidence to determine relations to investigations, gathering and reviewing video evidence, and preparing related police reports as well as assisting the District Attorney's Office in cases and testifying as an expert witness in court when needed; and related duties as required. Applicant Investigation Specialization Highly responsible protective services and administrative work in support of the Recruitment and Applicant Investigation Section of the New Orleans Police Department. Work includes conducting background investigations into criminal and employment histories of the identified candidates for Police Recruit and other civilian positions as well as preparing written letters, memorandums and/or rmendations relative to background investigations. Work also includes verifying references, reports, evaluations and/or other documents in conjunction with the background investigation. Duties include conducting follow up investigations by conducting neighborhood, employment and tenant related checks to satisfy department requirements; and related duties as required. Some positions require shift work. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a valid drivers' license.•EITHER:
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university• and two (2) years of full-time paid experience conducting criminal investigations or investigations related to loss prevention, municipal code violations, background checks, employee disciplinary investigations, administrative investigations or a closely related field.OR:
