PAY RANGE
$25.00-$35.00 DOE SUMMARY Works aboard U.S. Navy Surface ships, performs shipboard repairs, and installs simple and/or complex modifications to equipment utilizing plans, schematics, sketches, blue prints or written and/or verbal instructions. Repairs; troubleshoots, or replaces components, parts, and other mechanical pieces including work on motors, pumps, gears, bearings, electro-mechanical items, valves, valvle operators, and other standard engineering mechanical systems aboard marine vessels. Must follow proper guidance documents and perform work to standardly accepted practices and expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain proper operation of equipment, machinery, or mechanical devices,including engines, pumps, mechanical equipment, or electro-mechanical devices Investigate malfunctioning equipment, machinery, or mechanical devices to determine source of failure Replace or repair parts, using hand tools and power tools, including hoists, jacks, wrenches, and screwdrivers Diagnose mechanical problems with electrical and electronic components, using electrical test equipment Arrange for maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery, or mechanical devices Work and communicate with vendors and customers in all areas that pertain to the scope of work. Getting quotes and requesting purchases orders for the specific job.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES A
working Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items Willingness to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities and have a dependable work ethic Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form including but not limited to safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals and procedure manuals
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, plus technical/vocational training or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Within the shipyard, minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery
