We are seeking an experienced Level 2 Technician to join our team in Houston, Texas, focusing primarily on supporting clients in the Oil and Gas industry. This role requires a skilled IT professional with a deep understanding of industry-specific software and technical requirements. The successful candidate will handle escalated technical issues, infrastructure management, and provide project support to ensure seamless IT operations for our clients.Key Responsibilities:
Provide advanced technical support for desktops, servers, and network infrastructure at client sites and remotely. Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues. Manage and maintain Active Directory, including user accounts, group policies, and access permissions. Configure and troubleshoot network devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls. Implement and maintain server environments (Windows/Linux) and virtualization solutions (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V). Perform routine maintenance tasks such as data backups, patch management, and system updates. Provide IT support for industry-specific software commonly used in Oil and Gas, such as SCADA systems, geological mapping software, ERP systems, and drilling applications. Implement and support Microsoft Office 365 solutions, cloud environments (Azure, AWS), and VPN configurations. Collaborate with clients on IT infrastructure projects, including installations, upgrades, and migrations. Maintain accurate and comprehensive IT documentation, including network diagrams, system configurations, and incident reports. Ensure the security of client environments by applying best practices for firewalls, antivirus, and data protection. Act as a point of escalation for Level 1 Technicians, providing mentorship and technical guidance.Qualifications:
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in an IT support role, preferably in a Level 2 capacity. Strong knowledge of server administration (Windows Server and Linux), networking (LAN/WAN, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP), and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V). Experience with Oil and Gas industry software, such as SCADA systems, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Petrel, and ERP systems like SAP or Oracle. Proficiency in administering and troubleshooting Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, and remote desktop solutions. Solid understanding of network protocols and experience with configuring switches, routers, and firewalls. Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues independently. Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals and implementation of IT security measures. Relevant IT certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft, Cisco, or VMware certifications are a plus.
