Duties The primary purpose is to assist the 56 Force Support Squadron in the Informion Technology office. Can act as the supervisor when the current supervisor is on extended leave or TDY. Provides desktop and central/network administrion and support for the unit or facility's functional network systems and desktop office computers th connect to the LAN (local area network) or WAN (wide area network) systems. Provides limited technical support for commercial off-the shelf (COTS) applicions and/or reled business systems. Performs routine and advanced installion and configurion of the desktop workstion hardware and software required to support unit or facility operions. Provides desktop customer support for all workstion and peripherals connected to the FSS Commercial Network. This LAN/WAN is referred to as the FSS Commercial Network. Resolves partial system failures (software or hardware-reled) by providing for revised applicion of system components, which involves working through or around the problems with reduced capacity and readjusting the system until full opering efficiencies are tained. Coordines LAN installion, configurion, maintenance and troubleshooting and fine tunes components as necessary to include servers, switches and routers in order to achieve PCI (Payment Card Industry) and PII (Personally Identifiable Informion) security compliance. Installs, configures and maintains network and applicion server, hardware network operion system, software and peripheral network equipment (scanner, printers, ect). Executes downward directed computer and software upgrades. Uses established industry recognized troubleshooting techniques to identify and promptly resolve network reled problems. Performs preventive maintenance inspections (PM l's) as required. Coordines and schedules repairs with approprie vendors for equipment under warranty. Identifies and reports aging hardware for refreshment in assigned areas. May be required, where applicable, to function as the Unit or Facility Client Support Technician for desktop systems th opere on the .MIL network. May be required to execute Client Support Technician (CST) or Informion Assurance (IAO) notices and orders, and initie the directed actions as approprie for the .Mil network. Maintains accountability of APF or NAF informion system assets th are assigned to the Unit or Facility. Qualifying Experience:
Five (5) years specialized experience in informion technology. Familiar with the terminology and principles utilized in IT disciplines or subject reled fields. Knowledge deemed equivalent to th which is acquired through a four (4) year college curriculum or Comp TIA IT certificions for A+, Network+ and/or Security+. Must be proficient in Microsoft opering systems software, have working knowledge of commercial point-of-sale systems, and network administrion. Skills in troubleshooting and resolving problems with informion systems is required. A+, Network+, or Security+ certificions are considered preferred but not required for position candidacy. The incumbent must achieve the approprie Security+ certificion required by IA W DoD &570 within 6 months of hire Educion Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your educion for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for educion substitution.

Educion completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
