Job Description

Pump and Motor Tech City of Kyle, TX Kyle, TX General Statement $26.89 Minimum Starting Base Pay• + Competitive Benefits Eligible experience, education, and expertise may provide a greater starting base pay within the full pay range. The Pump and Motor Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the daily and emergency preventative maintenance needs of the city, including various pumps, motors, and controls, standby generators and related systems. Areas of work may be at any of the water and wastewater facilities throughout the city. Potential candidates should have a strong background in electrical systems troubleshooting, motor diagnostics, and general maintenance of such systems. Technician must be able to exercise sound judgment in times of crisis, and effectively communicate with other city staff and elected officials as needed. The City of Kyle Public Works Department operations are performed 24/7, 365 days a year. This position is required to be on an on-call rotation. Candidate must live within 45 minutes of normal travel time to Kyle. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Troubleshoot and correct electrical, mechanical, and piping problems as experience and training allows and as directed by supervisors. Analyze, repair or replace mechanical equipment (pumps, motors, submersibles, relays, breakers etc.) as necessary to complete required repairs. Assist in the installation of new utility system improvements and other water and wastewater utility related projects. Responsible for keeping maintenance records up-to-date, including work orders and related forms. Will operate a company vehicle and be responsible for the appearance, maintenance, and organization of vehicle and tool inventory. Respond to emergency calls as directed, to include returning to Public Works Facilities or other facilities during disasters and/or emergencies as directed by the Supervisor or Director of Public Works. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum / Preferred
Qualifications, Experience, and/or Certifications Required Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Two (2) years general work experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience which evidences a comprehensive knowledge of required job duties and expectations. Valid Texas State Driver's License at hire date, and eligibility for coverage under the City of Kyle vehicle insurance provider. Must live within 45 minutes normal travel time to the Water Utilities facility and have reliable transportation. TCEQ Wastewater Collection I Certification or D Wastewater License or D Water License is required within one (1) years of employment. Collection Certification must remain valid. D Wastewater and D Water must be upgraded to C prior to expiration. Preferred qualifications Two (2) years' experience in municipal wastewater treatment or collections systems. TCEQ Wastewater Collection I Certification or Class 'D' Wastewater license. TCEQ Class D Water Treatment license. Employment with the City of Kyle is contingent upon the outcome of record checks and verifications including, but not limited to, criminal history, driving records, education records, employment verifications, reference checks, and employment eligibility verifications. Selected candidates for positions will be subject to a background investigation and to pre-employment drug screen, depending on the position, may require a physical assessment upon a conditional job offer.
