POSITION SUMMARY
Provides excellent customer service while conducting donor registration, donor interviews, limited physical assessments, whole blood collection, collection of apheresis components using Alyx and/or Trima, apheresis recruitment and rebooking of donor appointments. Monitors donor/patient recovery and provides adverse donor reaction care management. Responsible for use and care of various pieces of equipment and performing daily quality control. Also responsible (DSIII) for success and oversight of the collection operations (mobile or fixed site), in the absence of a site supervisor (or when requested by management).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned 1. Performs all duties related to the collection and handling of blood and blood products (e.g. computerized medical history screening, whole blood phlebotomy collection, handling donor recovery and adverse reactions, loading, set-up and tear down of equipment, packing and handling of blood products and performing daily quality control, unloads vehicles and restocks mobile staging areas consisting of supplies, materials, equipment, and ice chests in an orderly and safe manner). 2. Treats customers (internal and external) with dignity and respect in a friendly and professional manner. 3. Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance and safety issues to the attention of management. 4. Maintains good attendance and punctuality in accordance with the attendance policy. 5. Collects apheresis pre-donation samples, donor retest and other samples as requested. 6. Works as part of a team to achieve daily team production goals. 7. Drives company vehicles, as required. 8. Demonstrates excellent communication skills in accordance with current customer service standards to represent a positive image for the company. 9. Maintains complete and accurate records related to donor procedures, quality control, cleaning records and training documentation. 10. Actively recruits donors for apheresis donation and educates donors regarding promotions and new initiatives (e.g. ExpressPass, LifeStream App, etc.). 11. Works at mobile and/or fixed sites in support of production goals and meeting patient blood needs. 12. Performs other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.

include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Responsible for oversight of collection operations in the absence of a supervisor. 2. Performs responsibilities and functions of a site lead including, but not limited to: proper documentation of daily activities, monitors donor flow, directs contact and provides excellent customer service to chairperson and Regional Account Manager (RAM) (mobiles only); ensures staff follows time clock procedures including taking proper rest and meal breaks. 3. Serves as a preceptor and mentor for trainees assigned for hands-on practice. Reports trainee progress back to the Training Department.

COMPLEXITY
Work involves mostly duties that involve related steps, processes, or methods, requiring the employee to make choices and recognize differences in a few easily recognizable situations, such as differences in fact, sources of information, or kinds of transactions or entries. Occasionally, work includes various duties involving different and unrelated processes and methods. Decisions on what needs to be done require analysis of the subject in each assignment, and chosen courses of action may be selected from several alternatives. Work involves conditions and elements that must be analyzed to identify interrelationships.
NATURE AND EXTENT OF SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO THE POSITION
The supervisor makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines, assisting the employee with unusual situations with no clear precedents. Employee plans and executes steps to complete the assignment, following instructions, policies, and previous training or accepted practices. Completed work is evaluated for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy. Methods used by the employee are not reviewed in detail. Occasionally, the supervisor sets overall objectives and resources available, with deadlines and work plans developed in consultation with the employee, with some opportunity for the employee to interpret policy, or determine approaches and methodology for accomplishing assignments.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES 1.
Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities. 2. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. 3. Must have good customer service and interpersonal communication skills. 4. Must have proficient computer skills. 5. Basic math skills (related to determining donor eligibility, recognition, and draw information). 6. Ability to read and comprehend written procedures and instructions. 7. Ability to work flexible shifts. 8. Ability to work in a team environment and participate as an active team member. 9. Ability to lift 30 pounds. 10. Ability to drive a standard passenger vehicle and practice safe driving skills. 11. Ability to travel, as required. 12. Ability to work efficiently to improve the skills of employees by providing helpful performance feedback, by effective coaching and mentoring (DS III). 13. Ability to act with honesty and integrity while showing respect for established laws, regulations, the rights of others and LifeStream's mission, vision and values.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
Optional:
Medical Assistant Diploma, Certified Nursing Assistant Diploma, Emergency Medical Technician Certificate, Phlebotomy Certificate or similar military experience/certification.
EXPERIENCE
Donor Specialist I:
Minimum 1 year of customer service experience is preferred.
Donor Specialist II:
Minimum 2 months' experience as Donor Specialist I (or previous similar blood bank experience) preferred.
Donor Specialist III:
6 months' experience as Donor Specialist II or Donor Specialist II/Driver II, preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, ETC.
Current California Driver's license, current CPR Certification.
