This position is responsible for all daily maintenance duties to keep a safe playing surface.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the supervision of employees while performing landscape and maintenance duties at Stockton Ballpark. Provide first-level supervision, technical assistance, and annual training to assigned staff. Conduct in-house training programs with part time staff to insure proper usage and operation of all maintenance equipment and complete daily safety checks. Review quality of work to ensure proper safety procedures and standards that are followed along with the ASM Global's Safety Program and current OSHA standards. Assist in planning and organizing maintenance to be performed daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly. Complete weekly irrigation system field assessments. Trouble shoot problem areas, and make repairs when malfunctions occur. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision. Operate equipment including mowers, tractors, forklifts, pallet jacks, and miscellaneous hand and power tools. Help hire, supervise, train, and schedule part-time grounds staff. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Requires a high school diploma/GED. Sport Turf Management or Sport Management Degree. At least three (3) years grounds maintenance experience, baseball specific a plus. Considerable knowledge of the principles, methods, tools, equipment, and materials normally used in the repair and maintenance of minor league baseball facilities; minor league baseball standards and specifications for laying out and maintaining professional baseball fields. Working knowledge of operating and maintaining irrigation systems. Ability to calibrate and apply liquid/ or granular fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides using most recent horticultural practices. Knowledge of maintaining Bermuda grass with cool season turf transition Knowledge of infield skin maintenance, mound builds, mound/plate patch, along with all other dirt work included to help maintain a safe and professional playing surface. Knowledge of MILB rules and regulations Must be highly motivated and able to work independently. Good communication, organization, interpersonal, prioritizing, and time management skills. Basic proficiency in use of computer (i.e. word processing, e-mail, etc.). Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, stand, stoop, kneel, and climb on a regular basis. Must be flexible with working extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. As well as be subject to calls 24 hours in case of emergency. Be licensed to operate a motor vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions including wet, humid, cold, and extreme heat. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is between $68,640 to $70,000 depending on experience.
