ManTech is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Engineering Technician to join our team in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Underway Replenishment (UNREP) Division's maintenance and transmission refurbishment efforts. This position is based in Port Hueneme, CA.Job Summary:
The Engineering Technician has both hands-on technical expertise and the ability to manage and support various UNREP systems, including transmissions. As part of the team, you will become a subject matter expert in UNREP transmission and equipment maintenance, troubleshooting UNREP transmissions, overhaul of UNREP transmissions, work closely with UNREP Division engineers to execute tasks at the UNREP Test Site and maintain detailed records of the processes involved. This position also includes assisting with operational activities and the execution of repair and maintenance requirements related to UNREP transmissions on Navy and USNS platforms. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Plan maintenance and lead the engineering technician team on the UNREP Navy Standard Transmission (NST) Refurbishment project Become a subject matter expert inUNREP NST
equipment maintenance, including transmissions, winches, and fuel probes, through on-the-job learning and training at the UNREP Test Site Assist with UNREP equipment overhaul at the UNREP Test Site, including troubleshooting transmissions and equipment during diagnosis and pretesting Collaborate with ship engineers to troubleshoot NST issues and travel to ships to execute emergent NST maintenance requirements Assist with NST overhauls and refurbishments, ensuring the systems are returned to full operational status Utilize wiring lists, schematics, blueprints, and verbal/written instructions to complete electrical refurbishment requirement for NSTs Maintain detailed records of ship visits, NST overhaul, and testing, and report findings to senior leadership Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and management, including delivering presentations and reporting on maintenance findings Work in shipyard and NAVSEA installation environments while adhering to technical specifications and safety regulations. Ensure that UNREP Station material condition assessments are performed and assist with mechanical maintenance on Underway Replenishment equipment. Provide troubleshooting and restoration support for UNREP systems to restore operational useMinimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalent Diploma (GED) 3+ years of experience leading a technical team in execution of mechanical overhauls and maintenance Experience as LPO/CPO in a technical rate such as Machinists Mate or Electrician's Mate aboard a US Naval vessel, lead technician in automotive shop completing complex maintenance on engines, or lead technician in oil industry completing maintenance on complex equipment systems Experience planning maintenance for a team and executing maintenance with the team is a must Five (5) or more years of experience in mechanical troubleshooting and system maintenance Must possess ability to provide on the job training to junior Engineering Technicians on system fundamentals and refurbishment maintenance execution Must have a valid passport and be able to travel within the United States for ship visits and maintenance tasks (Up to 25%)Preferred Qualifications:
Experience performing assessments of UNREP equipment conditions and conducting overhaul mechanical maintenance Familiarity with UNREP Station equipment and operation Exposure to electrical troubleshooting is desired Proficiency in using technical manuals, wiring lists, schematics, blueprints, and verbal and written instructions to perform maintenance and repairs Knowledge of Shipyard and NAVSEA installation requirements and supporting documentation Experience with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with military systems Experience in overseeing field projects and managing teams Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, ship schematics, and engineering drawings Experience working aboard a ship, shipyard, or industrial test site environmentClearance Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance prior to starting this positionPhysical Requirements:
Ability to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time Ability to climb multiple stairs, planks, or galley ways Ability to crawl and maneuver in confined spaces as required Operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, printer) Must be able to work aboard a ship and in a shipyard environment Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, management, and customers and deliver presentations as needed Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs The projected compensation range for this position is $69,700.00-$115,500.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
