TPS is a state-of-the-art design build manufacturer of electrical equipment enclosures, switchboards/switchgear, industrial control panels and panelboards. We have the expertise and experience to build medium and low voltage switchgear and integrate them with state-of-the-art controls.
Job Summary:
The Electrical Switchgear Control Technician is responsible for providing electrical services to industry standards. Interpret and follow electrical drawings to create custom electrical enclosures, electrical panels, electrical systems etc.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Ability to analyze schematics and drawings of electrical systems to determine efficient installation of hardware and wiring.
  • Coordinate with Controls Supervisor for the purpose of completing projects on schedule.
  • Install and wire electrical system components (e.g., PLC's, relays, terminal blocks, din rail, switches, pilot lights, timers etc.) and produce completed panels.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Request equipment and tools to maintain a functioning panel shop.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrates good listening skills.
  • Obey the safety standards of ACS/TPS and follow local, state, and federal UL regulations.
  • Mechanical assembly of electrical enclosures.
  • Fabrication of brackets and supports from fiberglass, metal and plastic.
  • Perform in process quality checks of self-work and the work of others.
  • Dimension and layout of back panels and enclosures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities as required.
  • Work with Mechanical Assembly team to efficiently complete work to schedule
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by TPS Management.
Work Environmental & Physical Demand:
  • May stand for long periods of time with very little sit-down time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repetitively.
  • Frequent twisting and bending.
  • Work in various environmental conditions such as: o Tight or enclosed spaces. o Moderate heights. o Varying temperatures. o Inside or outside to complete work assignments. o Exposure to dust and dirt.
  • Follow safety standards in working with multiple services, tools and equipment.
Minimum Requirements/Experience:
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Ability to learn key product information quickly.
  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude and hands on skills.
  • Proven critical reasoning skills.
  • Knowledge and practice of problem-solving skills.
  • Novice to Intermediate ability with common hand tools including but not limited to the following: o Cordless drill for driving screws. o Wrenches and sockets. o Screwdrivers. o Hand drills. o Intermediate ability to read a tape measure. o Intermediate ability to read mechanical engineering drawings.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check for employment.
Required Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
