Responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting all transportation operations, including department resources, drivers, paraprofessionals, crossing guards, activity and other trip services, buses, activity vehicles, as well as vehicle maintenance to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of students and staff to and from school and other activities. Learn and maintain a full understanding and operating knowledge of district and department policies and procedures, state and federal regulations relevant to transportation operations and Thompson School District. Provide support and customer service to department employees, district staff, and community members in reference to routing, scheduling, extra-curricular activities, vehicle maintenance needs, safety requirements, district operations, and parent/guardian requests. Coordinate and uphold the culture of safety and success within the Transportation Department, including high level communication and organizing consistent, safe operations. Coordinate and manage trip operations. Work directly with department and district staff to address questions, needs and be a source of knowledge for all transportation operations. Drive daily routes, support all areas of the transportation department and manage an often-changing daily schedule. Responds to district vehicle breakdowns, accidents and other emergency needs during scheduled hours and outside of scheduled department hours for urgent or emergency operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting all transportation operations, including department resources, drivers, paraprofessionals, crossing guards, activity and other trip services, buses, activity vehicles, as well as vehicle maintenance in order to operate all transportation operations. Communicate with all department staff via two-way radio and all other means available to coordinate transportation needs during non-emergency and emergency operations. Assign substitute drivers, paraprofessionals, and crossing guards during absence of regularly assigned personnel. Verify the timely departure and arrival of buses to/from assigned routes/destinations. Coordinate, manage and maintain activity trip coordination and operations with assistance from department Router/Schedulers. Maintain a daily log of driver, paraprofessional and crossing guard scheduling activities, as well as documentation of department communications and field trip scheduling. Assist department employees, district staff and community members with requests and/or dissemination of information received. Assist with department meetings including but not limited to, meeting with parent/guardians, department staff and district administration. Assist Router/Scheduler with all department operations, including routing and field trip other transportation operations coordination. Manage and/or assist with emergency response to incident/accident sites both within or outside of the district; verifies reports. Manage accident sites independently as needed. Act as a resource for all department employees, district staff and community members. Responsibilities include; planning and coordinating department operations, addressing questions/complaints, and helping to resolve issues. Communicate with department leadership to support daily success of the department. Request, coordinate and verify maintenance to be performed on transportation fleet vehicles. Monitors availability of transportation fleet vehicles. Make recommendations for the efficient and effective operation of the transportation dispatch office. Provide assistance in ensuring compliance with Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and District policies, regulations, and procedures. Responsible for gathering, organizing, and preparing data for special reports as needed for the Director of Transportation, District Administration, or other State or Federal agencies. Support the transportation department with data and other forms needed for required CDE information, including but not limited to:CDE-40, CDE
school transportation advisory reviews, district count day and other department data. Work with the Department Secretary and other staff to maintain necessary forms and supplies utilized by the dispatch office and department employees. Attend appropriate meetings, training classes and learning opportunities, including but not limited to: first aid, verbal and non-verbal de-escalation, department training and district professional development training. May be required to work beyond normally scheduled hours, as required or requested by the Department or District Administration. Maintain operating knowledge and abilities of all relevant equipment used for transportation operations and all vehicles including type A, B, C, and D school buses and other district vehicles. Serve as substitute route or trip driver as needed. Perform duties as a crossing guard or bus paraprofessional as needed. Perform emergency/urgent pre and post trip inspections for buses and white fleet vehicles as requested by dispatch and department leadership. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Perform other duties as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Operating knowledge of two-way radio equipment, retarders, hydraulic lifts, and handicap equipment for type A, B, C andD. EDUCATION AND TRAINING
: High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized courses in 2 week driver training or equivalent combination of education or experience.EXPERIENCE
Over two years and up to three years experience in public transportation.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS
: Valid Colorado Driver's License required. Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with P2 and S endorsement license preferred.SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY
: Acts a resource for sub-crossing guards, aides, bus drivers for routes, field trip assignments and utility assignments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; assist with training of employees.SAFETY TO SELF AND OTHERS
