Police Department - Lateral Transfer POST Certified Town of South Hadley South Hadley, MA The South Hadley Massachusetts Police Department is accepting applications for a Massachusetts POST Certified Police Officers or out of state Police Officers who meet the criteria for Massachusetts POST Certification. South Hadley Police is seeking individuals who are committed to working in partnership with the community, to maintain social order and improve the quality of life within the Town of South Hadley. We are dedicated to the ethical principles of justice, integrity, respect, courage and allegiance. Our goal is to understand and serve the needs of the South Hadley community by providing the highest quality of police services, assisting in resolving problems, and promoting positive values through equitable and impartial policing consistent with and reflective of the shared values of the community. The South Hadley Police Department consists of twenty-nine (29) sworn officers and 7 civilian clerical staff.
Speciality assignments include:
detective, SRO, CIT, DART, TRIAD, FTO, Drone Unit, CT River Task Force, bicycle patrol, comfort K9 program (new), and many others. We are only looking for POST certified applicants who are thoughtful, self-motivated, and service-oriented. All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: U.S. citizen; at least 21 years of age; High School graduate (college degree in criminal justice, related field, or military experience preferred); possess a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a MA LTC. Candidates must be Massachusetts P.O.S.T. Commission certified. Out-of-state candidates must be eligible for a waiver from the MPTC for having attended a certified police academy and meet the qualifications outlined in 555 CMR 3.03(a). The Town of South Hadley is a Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission accredited department that provides a competitive salary and benefits package. Starting pay is negotiable with the candidate's year of service in law enforcement. Officers work a 4 and 2 schedule. Officers also receive the following contractual benefits: paid holidays, personal days, sick leave, educational incentive, shift differential, roll call pay, and longevity pay. Ideal candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills and must be willing and able to meet the duties and obligations of a South Hadley Police Officer.

any felony conviction or untruthfulness during any portion of the hiring process will be considered automatic disqualification for employment. Status and Compensation This is an FLSA non-exempt (hourly), union, benefitted position, 40 hours per week, on a rotating 4 days on-2 days off (4/2) schedule. Overtime available and occasionally required. The starting rate at Step 2 for lateral officers is $62,322 ($31.96 per hour) with a top Step 3/Year 5 salary of $66,495 ($34.10 per hour). Position is FLSA non-exempt (hourly), 40 hours per week, on a rotating 4 days on-2 days off (4/2) schedule.
