Full Job Description Position Title:

Operations Support Specialist Position Reports to:

Minnesota Dedicated Manager Position Summary:

Under general supervision, manages the utilization and success of drivers; preplans drivers based on availability; coordinates relays as needed; works closely with managers, customers, drivers, and co-workers to coordinate and ensure lane and service commitments are being fulfilled.

Essential Functions:

Dispatches drivers, sends pre-plan info, load plans, customer information, route suggestions, and fuel solutions in a timely manner so drivers are well informed and can trip plan properly; processes inbound messages and answers questions via the In-Cab messaging system. Ensures Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA's), Projected Time of Availability (PTA's) and Requested Days Out (RDO's) are always updated, and accurate, according to the driver's needs. Assists with any tasks pertaining to the success of the Minnesota Hub operation. May perform tasks as a Load Planner, Driver Manager and Customer Service Representative depending on the situation. Strives to always maintain and improve driver retention; recognizes drivers' dissatisfaction and reacts accordingly. Services as a direct liaison between drivers, customers, and West Side Transport. Trains with other related departments as necessary according to company needs; participates in companywide training opportunities to improve self-knowledge and works to maintain mutual respect and professionalism with co-workers and management to sustain a positive team environment. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Ability and desire to contribute equally to a team environment; ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and efficiently by phone; creative problem solving and logical thinking.

Experience:

2+ years in a transportation operation preferred, but not required.

Physical Qualifications:

Ability to lift 20 lbs., use a telephone, and computer are required.
